About
David Coull is a Lighting Designer based in Derbyshire. Originally from Bedford, David moved to study at the University of Derby. Starting his studies in 2017 and later graduating in 2020 with a first class honors degree in Technical Theatre. With the course being based at Derby Theatre, David soon found himself working as a Casual Technician within the venue, later being promoted to the full-time Lighting Technician in 2022. With an emphasis on Lighting, David has worked as a Designer, Programmer, Operator and Production Electrician.

David has worked on a variety of different shows, including in-house produced shows and touring productions. Working on a range of different Theatre, including plays, musicals & readings. He has also worked on Music Events including gigs and festivals in a variety of different positions, including that of his own business, Carpe Noctem.

Lighting Programming experience includes: The Sinfonia (Leeds Playhouse, April 2024); Aladdin (New Theatre Royal Portsmouth, December 2023); Cinderella (Derby Theatre, December 2023); Robin Hood (Derby Theatre, April 2023).

In 2018, David started working at the Bonus Arena, Hull, in which he lit the first ever performance to open the 4500 seat Arena. David has also worked on numerous UK festivals as stage crew, including: Leeds Festival 2018 & 2019, Latitude Festival 2019 and Slam Dunk 2019.
